Heavenly soft – Retail design

This store design feels like walking on a cloud. I imagine walking on a cloud gives a bouncing feeling, just like the shape of the fabric that covers most of this store. It is just a temporary design, going from November 2011 to February 2012, so if you are in Budapest you can still visit Nanushka store and have a look at the beautiful design. Daniel BaloZsofi DobosDora MedveczkyJudit Emese Konopas and Noemi Varga are the creative souls behind the idea. They were picked out by the fashion designer and put together in a team; they had never worked together before, they were given a short deadline, low budget and most important they had to leave the interior unharmed. Their inspiration comes from classical wedding tents and barn weddings, and aims to emphasis the brand’s core values and contrast the sometimes overwhelming racket of the urban experience. It´s used 250 sqm of fabric to cover up the walls and ceiling, and for the floor they have sliced firewood. In some areas they have used logs, as they are sprouted up from the floor, to display accessories. The design is harmonic and delicate.

Shoe Laces – as an architectural element

What a store. Dear Design have created this store for Munich footwear shoe store in Ireland. I admire the creative use of  shoelaces as main material in this store. They have covered the ceiling with hanging shoelaces and used it as a background surface to the walls. To recall the Irish green hills and mountains they have worked in green padded fabric for the cash desk, shelves, sofa and walls. Great looking concept store.

A colourful environment in Berlin

This project was designed by Gisbert Pöppler, and stood ready in 2007. It is brave and bold colour combinations, which was carefully planned and inspired from the exterior of the building, and also typical for other Hansaviertel buildings. If you do a google search on Hansaviertel architecture or buildings you will se where the designer got his colour palette from. Hansaviertel is a neighborhood in Berlin, famous for a its successful housing estate project in 1957 to 1961, realised by international master architects like  Alvar Aalto, Arne Jacobsen, Oscar Niemeyer and Le Corbusier. The list of contributing architects can you find here.

Wooden retro at the loft

Wood and orange hand in hand. This loft has an retro feeling to it. Just because of the orange colour drop; especially in one of the bedrooms. It is an open space planning, with a bookshelf dividing the guest bedroom and the kitchen. A warm atmosphere with a great personality.

A space within a space – Japanese architecture

Japanese architecture always fascinates me. This space is designed by GENETO. The images is of an empty space with no personal items, which you might think is a bit boring. But what I like is the contrast with the white architecture frame and the dark floors and space. Like the way they have build up the different rooms in the same dark material, creating a interesting streamlined space.

Milk crate – makes an excellent office space

I never get enough of creative and “out of the box thinking” office space interiors. And here is definitely one to add to the list. Moove Media, an Australia based advertising agency had Zouk Architects to design their office space, and with great success. You can find similar milk crates at this webshop.

Fabbrica Restaurant – warm and modern interior by Studio Tjep

Restaurant Fabbrica in Bergen, Netherlands is a modern style Italian trattoria. It is focus on materials and a genuine experience. The designers from Studio Tjep are inspired by the experience of enjoying a great dinner on a train while looking at nice landscapes. So therefore the cool and modern train cabins in wood and pastel colours. They have created a great balance between a feminine and masculine look. It’s brought in different style elements to get the right balance. It is feminine pastels with romantic chandeliers against a graphic and rough industrial style. And of course in any Italian trattoria you need a real pizza oven, and this one is definitely done with style, covered in mosaic Bisazza tiles. Their first Fabbrica restaurant was open in Rotterdam 2005 and is also worth a look.
