Playhouse for the kids

This wonderful playhouse, X-HUS is designed by Studio 17. A little Norwegian company with two architects Christine Petersen and Anne Frøydis Linnerud. Both mothers, they came up with the idea to X-Hus after realizing that a quality product like this did not exist  for kids. The playhouse is produced here in Norway and comes flat packed, and easy to put together. Made out of 6 mm thick plywood with a footprint of 0.6 x 1.2 meters and a hight of 1.2 meters. Weight 20 kg, and cost from 3500 NOK depending on the finishing. If you are located in Oslo you can buy it from DogA.

Scandinavian Coffee House – a new Norwegian brand

This new coffee shop Scandinavian Coffee House has still not open, but yet it gets me all excited. Why you wonder? From what I have seen of their branding and packing (images below), it looks indeed very promising. A nice mix of great coffee culture with scandinavian roots, showing off scandinavian design, architecture and interior.

But the punchline for me, is that the famous Norwegian architect firm Snøhetta is working on the retail together with Norwegian industrial designer Andreas Engesvik. Its like iceing on the cake, cherry on the top, you get my point! So I am eager to see the result when they open their first shop in Ålesund on the west coast of Norway in May. But the three guys behind the project Kim Haagensen, Sindre Røstad og John Wuya has bigger vision than just staying in Ålesund. Their ambition is to expand to New York and Tokyo.

Can’t wait to see the interior and the concept when its finished. Is doomed to be awesome. Will keep you posted on their progress, and share images of their shop as soon there is something to show. Want to follow the Scandinavian Coffee House, go to their facebook page and press LIKE!  Discovered via Made in Norway, images borrowed from that site as well.

Wooden stools from Krosser

Some products are just so brilliant in its idea and simplicity. These wooden stools from the small Norwegian company Krosser is just that. Krosser farm “harvest” their material in their own woods and create these beautiful objects. Love the glossy finish with the organic shape. You get them in different sizes and finishes. Use them as table, sideboard or stools. They also create special pillows in either wool or sheepskin. Norwegian blog site Norske Interiørblogger just visited their farm and took some pictures of the production, and here you can see Cathrine, the owner in action.

Simple idea and beautifully executed, a lamp designed by Norwegian Andreas Engesvik. Shelf Lamp is designed to fit perfectly in your shelf and light up books and beautiful things. The simple graphical shape adds to the bold statement will provide a focal point. The lamp is still a prototype, but I hope it will be put into commercial production soon, because it would fit perfectly at my place. And the clear blue color is perfect!

Designers Saturday

Masse blide mennesker over alt.

This weekend the event Designers Saturday in Oslo is arranged for the 14 time event. The goal is to put Oslo on the European design map. 180 Norwegian and international manufacturers are displaying the latest furniture, lighting, flooring, textiles and kitchen design and trends. I have been around at the different locations today and see what the exhibitors have to offer. The trip went to DogA and Skøyen area. Lots of happy people everywhere. What I saw, can be summed up in a 3 word: alot of great design. The event is open to “regular” audience tomorrow, Sunday Sept. 4th. If you are in Oslo, I recommend you to pay the event a visit. Here are some pictures that I took today at DogA.

Kontortilbehør i betong

Solid desk Accessories by Magnus Pettersen

I love this desk accessories, concrete of course! Designed by Norwegian Magnus Pettersen, who lives and works in London.  The accessories can be ordered online from his site, and I plan to enter an order for the tape dispenser. It would look fab in my office!

Norskdesignet sykkeloppheng

I am currently looking for a nice bike rack and I have found a favorite from Norwegian Frost Products. There is a lot of cheap solutions that fit perfectly in the storage room/basement, but when you are going to have the bike on the wall inside your home it requires a little more of the design. Therefore Alta Bike Wall Rack is perfect. Simple and minimalistic! Have no idea what the price is, on the website as it says you have to contact a Frost via email. I have done that and now I waiting for an answer! Crossing my fingers that the product is available for sale so I can get two! Pictures coming when the rack and the bikes are attached to the wall. Another option if you want a more decorative solution, you can take a look at Bikeshelf by Chris Brigham in wood. You have also another option which is CYCLOC.
