What a great apartment in Stockholm, light and bright space. What makes the space and cozy atmosphere for me is: the Eames DWR chairs in the different lovely colors, the old chesterfield and the white tiles in the kitchen. Via Design Attractor

This month challenge from NIB is new meets old. Well, my home is filled with old treasures I have inherited from my family. And my style at home is a true mix of modern icons and old things with good memories attached to it. So this is my contributions from my dining room. What you see is old medicine bottles, which I use as vases on my dining table. And in the background is a big graffiti painting by a friend of mine. Chairs is Chair One designed by Konstantin Grcic for MAGIS. If you love the mix of old and new, take a look at our category Vintage and Industrial style.

I am the first one to admit that I am not a fan of curtains anywhere in the house. I like clean dressed windows with blinds you can take up and down when you need it. BUT, it is a but. Used “right”, like on these images shown here, I think it looks fab. Hotels are using them in this fashion, so why not copy it and get that hotel feeling in your bedroom? So what are the clues? The height needs to be from ceiling to floor. Do not just frame the windows, but use them from wall to wall. Try to get the fittings hidden or incorporated in the ceiling. It also works great as a room divider, to soften up the space. Easy!

On a cliff in southern Sri Lanka you can spot this architectural concrete dream of a house. It is completed to perfection by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando. It is a great balance of contrasts, the heavy concrete surface is perfectly emphasized by the open and spatial plan; light and shadow unfold the exciting structure. And there are no superlatives to describe the open roof terrace with the fantastic eternity pool.

Thomas Walde from the design collective Postfossil showed this at Milan Furniture Fair as a part of the design collective’s Home Made collection. It celebrates the increasingly popularity of getting around on a bike as a great ecological way of transport. So why hide it away, with this design you can frame it in and show it off as a great piece of furniture. It is not the first time we see design that are developed with the idea of function and storage of a bike.
The collection is available at their webshop.

Attics is often a difficult space to get the interior “right”. But as you can see, it is possible. Here are 10 beautiful cozy bedrooms in the attic, all very welcoming and warm. And if it isn’t space for a normal bed, put the mattress on the floor, a space saver.

Who said white tiles had to be boring? Not me! Here we have collected 15 bathrooms and as you can see: a white tile is not just a white tile. With a variation in size from big to tiny mosaic, and what you decide to use on the floor, the bathroom can get a very different look. Why not lay the tiles in angle or maybe use yellow grout instead of black or white? The options are many. My favorite bath is picture no. 1 and the last no. 15. What is yours? Some images just makes you inspired. This is one of them. A green walkway, just makes you want to take off your shoes and run on it, doesn’t it? It looks like this is from a art project/installation in France. The walkway goes all the way through a small village. The site where I found it Gaelle Villedary is only in french, so I don’t understand much of it. But I think we all can agree on that this is a beautiful concept.
