I am the first one to admit that I am not a fan of curtains anywhere in the house. I like clean dressed windows with blinds you can take up and down when you need it. BUT, it is a but. Used “right”, like on these images shown here, I think it looks fab. Hotels are using them in this fashion, so why not copy it and get that hotel feeling in your bedroom? So what are the clues? The height needs to be from ceiling to floor. Do not just frame the windows, but use them from wall to wall. Try to get the fittings hidden or incorporated in the ceiling. It also works great as a room divider, to soften up the space. Easy!

The way I start an redecoration project is to choose one piece of furniture that I want to give the main focus. I have bought art for many years and I tend to take a piece of art as the starting point and then decorate around it. We have our own series here on Ideas To Steal called Art Friday where you get inspiration on where to by unique and great looking art on the internet. Go have a look if you need some tips.
In my bedroom I have a photo 1 x1 meter by Stein Henningsen above my bed (see the last image in the blogpost). The image is from Spitsbergen, I absolutely love it. It is like and extra window with a great view in the room. I have had it on a white wall and on a light gray wall, but the colors have never done it justice. It needs a dark backdrop to make the image pop-out and shine. So I have decided to go for a dark blue backdrop to make the centerpiece shine.
Step two of my process is to start collecting an moodboard, and the images showing here is my bedroom moodboard (Pinterest is great for this). All in blue. From dark walls in blue to more lighter rooms where the blue is just on the accessories. Not sure where I will end up. Should I keep it all white and blue? Or maybe I should add some yellow to the color palette. Or some black? Time will tell. I also find a great deal of inspiration in fashion and nature photography.
All images collected on our pinterest account, so to see the source go to Ideas To Steal Pinterest account. To see the rest of the blog post in my home makeover project click here.

Just thought this was a very cleaver idea to show of your beloved boxes, great storage possibilities inside them (for shoes or other things) and on top of that it gets a functional use – as a bedside table. Love the photo style as well. For other DIY -Do It Yourself ideas have a look here.
