As a designer I believe one essential key to a successful restaurant (besides really good food) is a unity between retail and graphics. Mangolds, a vegetarian restaurant in Austria is a good example on how a holistic approach can turn out. With attention to every detail like, food, interior, material, signage, menu, type and packaging, this is how refreshing and appealing a restaurant can look. A lot of brands incorporates art project in their branding. And the latest one is from the American shoe company Converse. I am a big fan of street art and graffiti (just take a closer look at my living room), so no wonder I like this video. Converse provided a numerous of billboards in the city of Berlin for street artist to decorate. I think it is a great way to show of talent and promoting something with a bit more value, than just a glossy fashion poster. And what a great way to give the city some creative space and colors that just makes you HAPPY! Found via
En design som har holdt tidens tann er Bestlite lampen som ble designet i 1930 av Robert Dundley Best. Tidløs og elegant er den i dag fortsatt populær og stadig avbildet i interiørblader. Winston Churchill skal vist ha vært en av mange tilhengere av denne klassiske lampen. Den er å finne i den permanente samlingen til Victoria & Albert Museum og Design Museum i London, det i seg selv er et bevis på lampens ikonstatus. A classic design that has never gone out of fashion is Bestlite lamp, designed in 1930 by Robert Dundley Best. Timeless and elegant, it is still popular and a regular object in interior magazines. Winston Churchill is numbered amongst its many famous users. Bestlite is held in permanent collections at both the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Design Museum in London, which is proof of the lamp icon status. Enda en film fra forlaget Gestalten. Denne gangen en inspirerende workshop av det britiske designfirmaet Established & Sons. Denne happeningen skjedde under London Design Festival 2010. Et utvalg kjente designere/kúnstnere fikk i oppgave å lage et et objekt i et gitt miljø til et bestemt budsjett i løpet av 8 timer. På filmen ser dere prosessen og resultatet. Kjenner du ikke til Established & Son så kan jeg fortelle deg at de lager masse fine møbler jeg skulle ønske jeg hadde. Under et utvalg hyller de har designet.
Another film by the publisher Gestalten. This time, an inspiring workshop by the British design company Esablished & Sons. This was a happening during the London Design Festival 2010. A selection of wellknown designers/artists were commissioned to create an object in a given environment to a specific budget in only 8 hours. On the video you can see the process and outcome. If you don’t know Established & Sons, I can tell you that they make lots of beautiful furniture I wish I owned. Under a range of shelves they have designed.
